DeJarnette Research Systems will demonstrate a nonproprietary open-source protocol for speeding network transport of DICOM images at next week's RSNA meeting in Chicago.
Developed by a consortium that included Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore and archive, viewing, and systems integration vendors, the MINT protocol can achieve more than 80% network bandwidth utilization in transferring image sets from archives to thin-client displays, according to the Towson, MD-based firm.
DeJarnette has integrated the protocol into its xDL enterprise document librarian application.
