Storage firm EMC of Hopkinton, MA, announced that Northern Hospital of Surry County in Mount Airy, NC, has implemented its products, including Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) and Avamar, to virtualize and consolidate the hospital's IT infrastructure.
Deploying a private cloud with the help of EMC and VMware products has enabled the community hospital to increase efficiency, agility, and data protection. Results include costs savings produced from eliminating 20 physical servers, decreased power usage, reduced network congestion, and compression of nightly backup activities from 14 hours to less than one, according to EMC.
