Image management technology provider Acuo Technologies of Bloomington, MN, announced a collaborative development effort with the Imaging Informatics team at the University of Chicago Medical Center (UCMC).
At the core of this initiative is Acuo's DICOM Services Grid used in enterprise routing. The grid receives DICOM studies from various modalities, caches, and routes image data to the departmental PACS for processing, in addition to retaining some studies from other departments.
The resulting system is designed to permit research departments to access the Acuo cache directly via DICOM or HL7 messaging, or through the UCMC Service Oriented Architecture Bus.
In addition, the new approach is intended to offer radiation dosage information, enabling users to monitor and track exposure over time.
