Merge grows revenues, trims loss in Q2

Sales of its iConnect image sharing application and its meaningful use platform contributed to revenue growth for healthcare IT and advanced visualization developer Merge Healthcare in its second quarter.

For the period (end-June 30), Merge recorded revenue of $55.6 million, up 92% from the $29 million turned in during the second quarter of 2010. The company had a net loss of $1.7 million, compared with a net loss of $15 million a year ago.

Merge said it received 12 new iConnect contracts in the second quarter, and the firm also secured more than 30 orders for its meaningful use platform within its orthopedics and radiology client base.
