NEC Display Solutions of America has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance for its MultiSync MD215MG diagnostic display.
A 21-inch, 5-megapixel medical-grade monitor, MD215MG is suitable for PACS and medical imaging applications, according to the vendor. It is factory calibrated to the DICOM grayscale function for luminance, and it includes a front sensor to maintain a calibrated brightness and also an ambient light sensor that automatically adjusts the display's brightness based on existing lighting conditions, NEC said.
The display also offers 1,100 cd/m2 brightness (500 cd/m2 calibrated), a 11.9-bit internal lookup table with 256 levels of gray, and DVI-D input as well as a USB hub. It is available at an estimated street price of $13,799, NEC said.
