Dear PACS Insider,
Integrating PACS with the electronic health record (EHR) can be difficult, but a large public healthcare system in Houston found the results to be well worth it.
At Harris County Hospital District (HCHD), a PACS-EHR integration project has allowed clinicians to have a single, comprehensive view of all patient clinical information. It has also resulted in faster turnaround for radiology reports, revenue cycle improvements, and a host of technical advances for HCHD.
Medical director for clinical information systems Dr. John Riggs discussed the program during a session at the recent annual Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society meeting in Las Vegas.
