Fuji offers Synapse Mobility in U.S.

Fujifilm Medical Systems USA announced that its Synapse Mobility 3.0 offering, which permits access to Synapse applications from handheld mobile devices, is now available in the U.S.

The latest version of Synapse Mobility enables access from handheld devices, as well as Macintosh computers and Windows PCs, the company said. Using a Web browser or their preferred mobile device, radiologists and referring physicians can review patient images and information available in Synapse PACS and RIS applications, increasing accessibility to patient information and improving workflow.

The company recently received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance for use on Apple devices, Fuji said.

Version 3.0 also includes a collaboration feature designed to foster communication between radiology professionals by allowing clinicians to consult in real-time, according to the firm.

Other upgrades include improved user functionality, as well as enhanced viewing capabilities for 3D images that enable zoom, window, and level adjustments and the use of maximum intensity projection/multiplanar reconstruction (MIP/MPR). Mobility is browser-independent and scalable, providing an unlimited number of user licenses, Fuji said.

The company is demonstrating the software at this week's Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM) conference in Orlando, FL.
