Carestream Health said it was awarded 43 patents from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in 2012 for radiology imaging, healthcare IT, dental imaging, and other areas.
The new patents include improvements in digital radiography (DR) detectors; advanced image processing techniques for DR, mammography exams, and specialty applications; and medical imaging advancements for use in intensive care units, orthopedics, and mobile x-ray systems, according to the vendor.
The company also earned patents for its RIS and PACS, as well as for thermographic printer improvements and new inkjet media formulations for printing medical images. Carestream was awarded 47 patents from the patent office in 2011.
