Medical imaging software developer Nephosity has received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its MobileCT Viewer application.
MobileCT Viewer enables the diagnostic viewing of CT, MRI, and x-ray images on Apple's iPad tablet in situations where there is no access to a full-fledged PACS workstation. Software features include the following:
- Image manipulation tools such as window and level and pan and zoom
- Display of full-resolution images
- HIPAA compliance with Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption for data in transit
- Measurement tools
- A lighting check tool that enables users to determine whether environmental lighting conditions can support diagnosis
Nephosity said it will incorporate MobileCT Viewer into its medical image platform. The company also intends to expand the platforms and devices on which the software can run, and it plans to submit additional regulatory applications for these versions.
