Printing firm and software developer Lexmark International has purchased PACS accessories provider PACSGear for approximately $54 million in cash.
PACSGear will report into Lexmark's Perceptive Software company. Perceptive Software also includes image management technology developer Acuo Technologies, which Lexmark acquired in January.
Providing synergy with Perceptive's current healthcare content management, workflow software, and vendor-neutral archive platform, PACSGear's offerings capture, manage, and integrate documents, film and video, visible light, and other images from any department with any PACS or electronic medical record software, Lexmark said.
PACSGear has provided its technology to more than 50 countries and approximately half of all U.S.-based hospitals, according to Lexmark.
