Study: Rads use mobile devices for medical apps

Eighty percent of radiologists are either definitely or very likely to use a mobile device for medical applications.

That's according to a survey conducted by mobile imaging software developer Viewbox Holdings. Among the random sampling of 72 radiologists, 47% also reported that they use mobile devices to view teaching cases. Furthermore, a large number of this demographic is utilizing an Apple device, Viewbox said.

The survey was performed in 2010 and comprised of seven multiple-choice and two open-response questions created with input from two board-certified radiologists, Viewbox said.

The company's Viewbox 2.0 iPad application is designed to give users mobile access to view, share, and present medical images. It provides radiology trainees and other medical professionals with a way to create and share image teaching files, Viewbox said.
