The imaging team at GRU needed to find pertinent clinical information to interpret and report imaging studies in clinical context in order to address key clinical concerns, and to make focused recommendations for treatment and follow-up studies, said presenter Dr. Norman Thomson. Reviewing the electronic medical record (EMR) directly, however, was challenging and time-consuming.
As a result, the university built MPages (Cerner), which are custom-built filters that extract key data elements from the EMR in a specialty-specific manner and display the data in a window in the RIS and/or EMR application.
"The GRU Imaging MPages have become useful tools to improve the context and value of imaging exam interpretations," Thomson told AuntMinnie.com.
