With the aid of a crowd-funding campaign, PACS firm myMedImage plans to introduce a new cloud-based PACS that is free for patients and participating physicians.
The network, which will be able to store, access, and share DICOM-compliant medical images for clinical diagnosis, will be accessible on any Internet-connected device, the company said.
myMedImage CEO and radiologist Dr. Christopher Hancock said the software is aimed at solving the real-world problem of storing, sharing, and managing medical images for patients who are in remote areas, lack access to specialists, or live in locations that lack an established healthcare infrastructure.
The globally available network will streamline the medical imaging viewing process while preventing unnecessary and duplicate imaging, according to the firm. myMedImage plans to raise more than $200,000 through its crowd-funding campaign on Indiegogo.
