PACS technology developer Sorna has filed a lawsuit for patent infringement against PACS accessories provider PACSGear.
Sorna alleges that PACSGear's medical data recording product known as MediaWriter infringes on Sorna's patent portfolio, which includes U.S. Patent Nos. 7,965,408; 8,045,214; 8,059,304; and 8,687,226.
In a prepared statement, Cyrus Samari, Sorna's vice president of sales and marketing, said that the company considers its patents to be "extremely valuable assets in our intellectual property portfolio, and we will continue to protect our intellectual property rights."
The case was filed in U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota.
PACSGear was acquired by Lexmark International in October 2013 for $54 million.
