Agfa HealthCare plans to highlight its updated Xero enterprise imaging viewer at the RSNA 2014 meeting in Chicago.
New functionality to be demonstrated at the meeting includes full-fidelity imaging, which will allow clinicians to retrieve original-quality renditions of stored digital radiography, CT, MRI, and ultrasound images from any connected browser-based viewer, Agfa said. Users will be able to switch between Web fidelity and full-fidelity views offering reference-quality and diagnostic-quality images, respectively. U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance is still pending for the full-fidelity view.
Another feature, a patient-centric timeline view, will give clinicians access to a unified chronologic view of the patient's imaging record, the company said. Electrocardiogram (ECG) viewing will allow ECGs to be seen in a range of layouts, and users will be able to adjust the waveform view and amplitude and measure waveforms on all ECGs. Functionality in low- and high-pass filters, as well as comparison of current with prior ECGs, will be available on the system.
A chat and share function will support communication and collaboration throughout patient care, via login with various messaging services, Agfa said. Advanced visualization tools and measurements will be available for these conversations, with features to avoid misidentification of patients.
Calibrated measurements will be available for images that do not contain pre-existing DICOM-based measurement calibration. Users can create reference measurements for images, and all subsequent measurements using markup tools will be calibrated against this reference measurement, according to the company.
A federated network feature will unite patient images from multiple sources across the healthcare system in a single consolidated view, Agfa said. Radiologists can retrieve images from other PACS networks directly into their own networks with a single mouse click.
Visitors to the Agfa booth will also be able to try out Google Glass and other wearable devices (not validated for use with Agfa products) to see how future developments will allow hands-free control of the Web viewer, Agfa said.
