Printing firm and software developer Lexmark International has acquired advanced visualization and analysis firm Claron Technology for approximately $37 million in cash.
Claron will report into Lexmark's Perceptive Software business. The deal expands Perceptive's offerings to healthcare providers by enabling referring physicians and clinicians to access, view, and collaborate on patient information and medical images that reside outside electronic medical record (EMR) systems, while also image-enabling the EMR and providing Web-based access via desktop and mobile devices.
The acquisition also gives Perceptive access to vendor-neutral archive (VNA) technology and a universal viewer. The surgical navigation portion of Claron is not part of the deal and will operate independently under the name ClaroNav.
