In a move to bolster its portfolio in imaging informatics and digital radiography (DR), Konica Minolta announced on Thursday that it has acquired Viztek, a midsized supplier of PACS software and DR systems, based in Garner, NC.
The acquisition of Viztek will broaden Konica Minolta Medical Imaging's portfolio in its primary services segment, which includes DR, ultrasound, healthcare IT, and services, according to David Widmann, president and CEO of Konica Minolta Medical Imaging's Americas region.
Viztek's most recent product introductions in imaging informatics include its Exa platform for PACS, RIS, and electronic health record (EHR) systems. The firm also set a company record for DR sales in 2015, with its wireless DR technology and dose-efficient software for pediatric imaging as particular highlights.
Being acquired by Konica Minolta will allow Viztek to make its products and services available to a wider range of potential customers, including those outside the U.S. for the first time. Viztek's partner company, 20/20 Imaging, will also become an autonomous subsidiary of Konica Minolta.
