Dell will showcase its first monitor designed for healthcare applications at next week's 2015 RSNA meeting, and it has also signed two collaborations covering data analytics.
Dell's Medical Review 24 monitor is designed for clinical review applications at the point of care, offering 24 inches of diagonal viewing area with a 1,920 x 1,200 resolution (16:10 aspect ratio) and compatibility with most image-enabled electronic medical record applications, according to the vendor. It's calibrated to the DICOM Part 14 grayscale display standard and comes with antireflective covered glass on the front in a sealed design that is IP-32 rated, Dell said. It can withstand cleaning agents of up to 75% concentrated ethyl alcohol solution.
To facilitate reviewing or sharing images with patients, healthcare professionals can switch between landscape and portrait orientations, as well as adjust height, tilt, pivot, or swivel the monitor up to 60° left and right. The display allows for 178° x 178° viewability from almost any angle, and it is available now, according to the firm.
On the data analytics side, the company is moving aggressively by inking partnerships with Zebra Medical Vision and MphRx.
The multiyear agreement with Zebra will integrate the Israeli-based image analytics developer's medical imaging research platform with Dell's Cloud Clinical Archive. As a result, Dell will be able to offer clinical sites access to algorithms that provide screening and diagnostic decision support, aid in creating disease-based risk profiles, and help to accurately identify candidates for preventive care and wellness programs, according to the company.
Meanwhile, Dell's new deal with MphRx brings access to that company's BizEye cloud-based analytics software, which will also be integrated into Dell's Cloud Clinical Archive. BizEye provides delivery teams with key performance indicators of clinical and operational data on user-defined dashboards, according to Dell.
BizEye captures and indexes information such as metadata, operational data, and clinical records data stored as native Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR), and it customizes how this information is presented, Dell said.
Dell expects to make both the Zebra algorithms and MphRx BizEye analytics software available to customers in February 2016.
