Imaging tool development firm LEAD Technologies released an upgrade to its LEADtools software that affects a range of technologies including optical character recognition (OCR), document imaging, medical imaging, and PACS.
Version 19 of the software includes the following updates:
- New Java libraries for Windows and Linux
- Document viewer on Linux
- Document writers for Linux
- Document converter for Linux
- Improvements to the OCR engine, including Latin and Korean language recognition, an "autozone" feature for images with noise and graphics, and preprocessing of noisy images
- Web access to DICOM objects (WADO) and DICOM web interface
- HTML5 medical viewer updates such as structured display and templates, rendering encapsulated PDF documents in a viewer frame, and the ability to upload DICOM to the server directly from the viewer
Other enhancements include better spyglass functionality and support to load all types of images such as those from CT, MR, and mammography, LEAD Technologies said.
Also, stack functionality has been enhanced to handle large-volume stacks such as CT and MRI and perform synchronization on two large stacks of the same anatomy.
These updates are freely available to all registered LEADtools version 19 and annual maintenance customers, the company said.
