Technology firm LG Electronics USA Business Solutions is branching out into the medical imaging market with the release of new monitors and a radiography device at RSNA 2016 in Chicago.
The LG 8-megapixel (MP) clinical review monitor is a 27-inch in-plane switching (IPS) monitor with 3840 x 2160 pixels. It has enhanced brightness levels, wide viewing angles, and minimal color shift. It is DICOM-compliant and equipped with backlight stabilization technology. Dynamic Sync Mode reduces input lag, while Flicker Safe and Reader Mode settings help reduce eye strain, according to the vendor.
The 27-inch LG 8-MP surgical monitor was developed for the operating theater. The monitor's IPS technology enables multiple medical professionals to view the monitor from different angles with minimal color shift. It has brightness levels of up to 800 nits and covers more than 99% of the sRGB color space with additional space dedicated to the deep red spectrum.
The LG digitalized x-ray detector (DXD) uses 16-bit image processing and a pixel pitch range as small as 127 µm. It has a magnesium and carbon fiber body and an IP41 rating for water and dust resistance. It will be available next year, LG said.
