PITTSBURGH - The Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM) dedicated its annual meeting this year to its longtime executive director, Anna Marie Mason, who will retire in the fall after more than two decades of service with SIIM and its predecessor organizations.
SIIM Chair Paul Nagy, PhD, honored Mason during SIIM 2017's opening session. Mason became executive director of the society in 1995, when it was known as the Radiology Information System Consortium (RISC). RISC became the Society for Computer Applications in Radiology (SCAR) in 1996, and Mason first took charge of the annual meeting that year in Denver. SCAR changed its name again in 2006 to SIIM.
Mason recently reminisced about her more than 22 years with the society in a post on her blog. SIIM has not yet announced a successor for Mason.
