HIMSS Analytics has teamed up with the Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine, the European Society of Radiology, and the European Society of Medical Imaging Informatics to expand its Digital Imaging Adoption Model (DIAM) to encompass enterprise imaging.
The maturity model, which guides healthcare organizations toward a fully digitized imaging IT environment over eight stages (0-7), was previously available for the assessment of radiology-related IT capabilities. With the extension, the DIAM can now be used to assess and support multiple imaging services across the whole enterprise
Imaging and IT experts can use the DIAM to assess and benchmark the use of information and technology in medical imaging to optimize internal workflows, increase patient safety, and improve the quality of care, HIMSS Analytics said. It includes the key elements for optimally implementing, deploying, and enabling enterprise imaging -- allowing healthcare providers to consistently capture, index, manage, store, distribute, view, exchange, analyze, and make full use of all clinical imaging and multimedia content, according to the organization.
