Medical data management firm Fivos is spinning off its cardiovascular imaging business into a new standalone company called Astute Imaging.
The new business will focus on developing artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud technologies to support precision medicine for healthcare providers and medical device developers. Astute Imaging will be led by Chief Executive Officer Wael Elseaidy and Chief Technology Officer Ewald de Vries, who previously founded Medstreaming, a predecessor company to Fivos.
Medstreaming in 2016 acquired M2S, a developer of cardiovascular imaging software. As Astute Imaging, the company will focus on software for pre- and postsurgery planning and follow-up, including 3D modeling, reconstruction, measurements, analysis, tracking, and alerts management. The software will be provided under a software-as-a-service (SaaS) model.
Astute Imaging has access to more than 345,000 imaging records and a multidisciplinary team of technology and medical experts, according to the company.
