GE to invest $1B for clinical education

GE Healthcare has unveiled a plan to invest more than $1 billion over five years to develop its educational offerings for more than 2 million healthcare professionals worldwide by 2020.

The company plans to provide onsite, online, and remote training, mostly as part of commercial partnerships with customers to help optimize health providers' skills for real-life clinical situations. The project's two primary goals are to enhance access to healthcare services for patients and to produce measurable outcomes.

The initiative will target radiologists, other physicians, technologists, midwives, nurses, biomedical engineers, and other healthcare professionals, according to the company. It will include training and education in clinical, product application, technical, and leadership fields.

This program builds on GE Healthcare's current global training initiatives in India, East Africa, Kenya, Turkey, the Middle East, Russia, and China.
