GE Healthcare announced that it is moving its global headquarters from the U.K. to Chicago.
GE Healthcare will move its executive leadership team to Chicago in early 2016, the company reported. The move will enable top-level healthcare executives to be closer to the company's operations in Chicago and Milwaukee, while remaining close to an international transportation hub.
GE Healthcare's global HQ has been located in Amersham, U.K., since the company bought contrast developer Amersham in 2004. The Amersham location will remain the global head office for GE's Life Sciences business, as well as the base for the company's U.K. operations.
The move affects senior executives such as GE Healthcare CEO John Flannery and chief financial officer Monish Patolawala, as well as other members of the executive leadership team. The company did not specify the exact number of personnel who would be affected by the move.
