The American College of Radiology (ACR) has awarded the Oklahoma State Radiological Society a grant from the ACR Association (ACRA) Scope of Practice fund.
The society will use the grant to advocate against nonphysician scope of practice expansion in the state, according to the ACRA.
Nonphysician providers have begun seeking "expanded authority by introducing legislation that would, for example, reduce radiologist oversight and enable direct billing," the ACRA said. The association established the fund in 2021 in an effort to "safeguard patients and patient access to radiologist expertise by fighting state and federal non-physician SOP expansion legislation," it noted.
