Schick year-end results show improvement

Digital x-ray firm Schick Technologies enjoyed improving financial results for its 2001 fourth quarter and fiscal year (end-March 31). For the quarter, the Long Island City, NY, company posted sales of $6.2 million, up 24% compared with revenue of $5 million in the same period the year before. The company recorded Q4 net income of $800,000, compared with a net loss of $3.1 million in the fourth quarter of 2000.

For the year, Schick reported revenues of $21.3 million, down 3% compared with $22 million in fiscal 2000. The company posted a net loss for fiscal 2001 of $1.6 million, down sharply from the $12.3 million loss the year before.

Schick said the improving fourth-quarter numbers were due to a large international order during the period, as well as improving gross profit margins. The company said its goal for fiscal 2002 is continued growth in both revenues and profit margins.
