Agfa has received Food and Drug Administration 510(k) clearance for its Drystar 4500 dry imaging system. Designed for CR and DR applications, the DICOM-compliant imager is a compact, freestanding unit that can be installed next to the modalities it serves, according to the Ridgefield Park, NJ-based company.
Drystar 4500 offers 508-dpi resolution, allowing the imager to print the complete bitmap of a scanned 14 x 17-inch ADC plate on 10 x 12-inch media without losing information, according to Agfa. The vendor said the process provides a high level of image quality and media cost savings for those applications not requiring full-size images.
The imager handles two media sizes online simultaneously and prints 8 x 10-inch media in 45 seconds (80/hour) and 10 x 12-inch media in 60 seconds (60/hour), according to Agfa. Drystar 4500 is now available for purchase.
