VIENNA - Healthcare device and information technology developer Agfa HealthCare has spotlighted a new printer, support services, and advanced visualization applications at the European Congress of Radiology (ECR) this weekend.
The DryStar 5503 high-resolution imager is the latest addition to the DryStar family of printers. The device offers the capability for high throughput, up to 100 14 x 17-inch (35.6 x 40-cm) sheets per hour, and three media trays capable of holding five different media sizes each that are permanently online, according to Agfa of Mortsel, Belgium.
An optional capability of DryStar 5503 enables printing mammography images using the firm's dedicated DryStar DT2 Mammo film. The printer offers a resolution of 508 dpi and incorporates the company's Direct Digital Imaging (DDI) technology, which now includes A#Sharp technology for better image quality, Agfa said.
Agfa demonstrated a work-in-progress version of its Musica image processing software at the ECR. The clinical application tools on display included multiplanar reformatting (MPR), maximum intensity projection (MIP), volumetric 3D rendering, colonoscopy, and nuclear medicine diagnostic viewing on the vendor's Impax workstation.
Finally, Agfa debuted a collection of service offerings for the European market. It has launched a new Management Consulting Services group that is scheduled to provide a range of offerings including development of strategic direction, situation analyses, workflow adaptations, resource allocation, and return on investment analyses for European hospitals.
