Gamma camera refurbishing firm Medx of Arlington Heights, IL, has received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to remanufacture Orbiter gamma cameras originally built by Siemens Medical Solutions of Malvern, PA.
As part of the refurbishing process, Medx discards the DOT computer that was originally part of the system and installs its own NuQuest computer. Medx can upgrade Orbiter cameras in the field, as well as at its factory, the company said.
