A Siemens Healthineers executive is testifying February 8 before the U.S. Senate Committee on Finance in a hearing titled, "Artificial Intelligence and Health Care: Promise and Pitfalls."
The hearing is focusing on the use of algorithms and AI systems in healthcare, including on the topic of reimbursement.
Peter Shen is representing Siemens Healthineers as head of Digital & Automation for North America. He previously testified before the House of Representatives Committee on Energy and Commerce in November 2023 about the company’s AI technology, its quality assurance and regulatory processes, and its protocols to de-identify and protect patient data.
Company leaders said that payment inconsistency is a barrier to AI adoption and that incentivizing innovation, adoption, and access to AI technologies requires a consistent, predictable reimbursement approach.
