Rads make hay in the heartland

It may lack the glamour of Hollywood or the Big Apple, but America's heartland is the place to be if you're a radiologist, according to results from the latest edition of AuntMinnie's CompHealth SalaryScan survey. Dear AuntMinnie Member,

It may lack the glamour of Hollywood or the Big Apple, but America's heartland is the place to be if you're a radiologist, according to results from the latest edition of AuntMinnie's CompHealth SalaryScan survey. Radiologists in three of the four central U.S. regions reported the highest average annual salaries in the country, according to SalaryScan data.

Leading the country was the U.S. West South Central region, with an average annual base salary of $319,979. Coming in second was the U.S. West North Central zone, where radiologists reported an average annual base salary of $315,646. Tailing all U.S. regions was New England, which has also been a laggard in past SalaryScan surveys, with an average salary of $291,868.

Things are quite the opposite if you're a radiologic technologist, however. RTs in the U.S. enjoyed the highest salaries in coastal regions, with those in the U.S. Pacific zone reporting an average base salary of $57,128 and those in New England coming in at $54,941. RTs in the U.S. West North Central region reported the lowest average salaries, at $47,228.
