Anti-trust waiting period expires for Siemens-SMS deal

Siemens Medical Engineering Group has announced that the waiting period mandated by the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act has expired for the vendor's pending acquisition of healthcare information systems firm Shared Medical Systems. Siemens announced the planned purchase on May 10 as part of a bid to expand its presence in the healthcare IT marketplace.
