Firms offering Web-based image access to surgeons

To improve access by orthopedic surgeons to medical images, medical device company Smith & Nephew of Memphis, TN, and orthopedic healthcare community site eTrauma.com of Deerfield Beach, FL, have announced a partnership to offer Web-based access to x-ray, MRI, and other images via eTrauma.com.

Smith & Nephew will use its existing global sales network to market the new service and technology, and will engage a specialized sales force to sell and install the product, as well as to provide customer support and training. The company expects to launch eTrauma.com's RemoteImage capability in the U.S. by August 1.
