Longtime medical imaging executive John Strauss is leaving PACS firm eMed Technologies, effective today. Strauss, vice president of marketing at the Lexington, MA, company, is starting his own business outside of the radiology industry. He will continue to serve as a marketing consultant to eMed for the next several months.
Strauss has been involved in radiology for the past 20 years, beginning with his 1980 job as a service technician for Varian phased-array ultrasound systems. He also did a stint for Siemens Medical Systems of Iselin, NJ.
Strauss was perhaps best known during his tenure at Fuji Medical Systems USA of Stamford, CT, where he helped lead the company's computed radiography program. Strauss left Fuji in 1999 for the marketing post at eMed, a job he held for 18 months.
In unrelated news, eMed reportedly has secured $22 million in a private stock placement to institutional investors. The fundraising is in lieu of an initial public offering, which eMed had hoped to issue earlier this year but postponed due to market conditions.
