A suit brought by two imaging centers fighting to remain part of an Oregon preferred-provider network was narrowed when the plaintiffs dismissed its claims against some defendants named in the action.
Diagnostic imaging centers Body Imaging Radiology and EPIC Imaging of Portland have voluntarily dismissed claims against defendants Portland Medical Imaging, Radiology Specialists of the Northwest, Center for Medical Imaging, and Advanced Medical Imaging, all of Portland.
Body Imaging and EPIC Imaging have filed a suit against Providence Health Systems, also of Portland, in an effort to stop Providence from dropping them from its insurance panels. Providence said earlier this year it was terminating its contracts with the centers and shifting its imaging to its own facilities.
The defendants dismissed from the suit have stated that they will not require the plaintiffs to issue subpoenas for additional testimony (if necessary) in the underlying case, and that they did not participate in the decision to terminate the centers' contracts with Providence Health Plan. In addition, the former defendants have stated that they will express no objection to any future decision by Providence Health Plan to contract with plaintiffs and that they are willing to facilitate sharing of electronic images of patients that the parties may have in common.
