Coverage of AHRA 2012
The annual AHRA show is under way this week in Orlando, FL, and we're featuring several articles on talks at the conference in our Imaging Leaders Digital Community.
First up is an article on the uncertainty surrounding healthcare reform. While the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the Obama administration's reform law earlier this summer, it's still far from clear how federal regulators will implement the law's provisions, as well as how the law will affect radiology. Another legislative issue that's not going away is breast density notification. A handful of states have already passed laws requiring women to be informed of their density status at mammography screening, and legislation is pending in other states.
The tide is becoming powerful enough that breast imaging specialists can no longer swim against it, according to mammography expert Bonnie Rush. Read her advice on how to deal with the new laws -- and patient requests for density information -- by clicking here.
