The Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) has named Dr. Alan Matsumoto as its new president.
Matsumoto assumed the new role at SIR's annual meeting this week in Atlanta. He is an interventional radiologist and professor and chair of the department of radiology and medical imaging at the University of Virginia.
SIR also announced the following appointments:
- Dr. Charles Ray Jr., PhD, University of Illinois, Health Sciences Center, as president-elect
- Dr. Suresh Vedantham, Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology, as secretary
- Dr. M. Victoria Marx, Los Angeles County/USC Medical Center, as treasurer
- Dr. James Spies, Georgetown University Medical Center, as immediate past president
