The American College of Radiology (ACR) Foundation presented two individual humanitarian awards and two group awards at its annual meeting in Washington, DC.
The individual award recipients are as follows:
- Dr. Kristen DeStigter of the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington. DeStigter is co-founder and president of Imaging the World, a program that provides obstetric ultrasound exams in rural Uganda.
- Dr. Peter Dross of Christiana Care Hospital in Wilmington, DE. Dross serves on the board of directors for Serving at the Crossroads, which built, equipped, and supports a medical clinic with diagnostic imaging services in La Entrada, Honduras.
Group award recipients are the World Federation of Pediatric Imaging, a global advocate for pediatric imaging, and the Rotary Club of Park Ridge, IL, which has raised funds for the installation of several World Health Imaging System for Radiology (WHIS-RAD) units in South America, Africa, and Asia.
