National Decision Support Company (NDSC) said that its ACR Select clinical decision-support software is being used in two new American College of Radiology (ACR) education and quality programs.
Led by Dr. Marc Willis of Baylor College of Medicine, Radiology-TEACHES is an imaging appropriateness clinical decision-support education pilot project for medical students, according to NDSC. The education portal aims to improve knowledge of the ACR's Appropriateness Criteria, patient care, and the cost of care.
The second initiative -- Radiology Support, Communication, and Alignment Network (R-SCAN) -- is designed to facilitate collaboration between radiologists and referring providers to improve imaging utilization. Supported by a Transforming Clinical Practice Initiative grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the web-based program will help at least 24,000 clinicians reduce unnecessary testing and procedures based on imaging Choosing Wisely topics. Participating clinicians will also be able use software tools to help them transition to value-based care over the course of the four-year grant cycle, according to the company.
