The American College of Radiology (ACR) has appointed Dr. Etta Pisano to the position of chief science officer at its Center for Research and Innovation.
In her new post, Pisano will identify scientific research opportunities to advance the practice of radiology and promote the expansion of ACR's imaging research portfolio.
Pisano's career milestones include serving as vice chair of research in the department of radiology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. She also served as founding chief of breast imaging at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine and as dean of the medical school at the University of South Carolina.
She also led landmark clinical studies while serving as chair of the American College of Radiology Imaging Network (ACRIN) Breast Committee and was principal investigator of the Digital Mammographic Imaging Screening Trial (DMIST).
