The Radiology Advocacy Alliance political action committee (RADPAC) is supporting two radiologists in first-time bids to win seats in the U.S. House of Representative in the 2018 fall election.
Interventional radiologist Dr. Steve Ferrara is running for Arizona's 9th Congressional District. He currently has $600,000 in campaign contributions and the support of eight different specialty physician organizations, as well as additional backing from members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee due to his work as a legislative aide during the year he served as a National Academy of Sciences Congressional Health Policy Fellow.
Mammographer Dr. Steve Sevigny is running for Florida's 6th District, replacing Rep. Ron DeSantis, who is seeking election as Florida's governor. He is a partner at Radiology Associates Imaging and has been medical director of Twin Lakes Imaging Center in Daytona Beach since 2005.
On the state level, Dr. Karen Berg, who specializes in mammography, is running for state Senate in the 26th District in Louisville, KY, and Dr. Anne Giuliano is running for State House District 46 in Billings, MT. RADPAC does not contribute to state and local races, but it will actively promote these radiologists in their state and local races, it said.
Last year, RADPAC raised more than $1.2 million from over 3,100 radiologist contributors, the organization said.
