HIMSS launches online HIPAA conferences

The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) is launching HIPAA Flash Web/Audio Conferences, a new online service designed to allow healthcare industry members to discuss the latest release of the U.S. government’s Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) guidelines.

To be held within days of release of the regulations, the HIMSS conferences will allow healthcare industry members to listen to a live telephone/Web conference conducted by HIPAA expert Chris Wierz, according to the society. Site visitors will also be able to view related documents on the Web. A question and answer period will be included in the conferences, which will be scheduled as soon as the guidelines are released, according to HIMSS.
