Hitachi taps new CEO as Ernst retires

Longtime Hitachi Medical Systems America chief executive Richard Ernst is retiring, and the Twinsburg, OH, company has appointed Donald Broomfield to replace him as president and CEO.

Broomfield is president and a member of the board of Summit World Trade. HMSA was established in 1989 as the sales and service organization of Hitachi Medical of Tokyo under a joint venture with Summit World Trade.

Ernst is retiring after serving as president and CEO of HMSA since its formation. Ernst will become a member of HMSA's board, and will serve as an ongoing strategic advisor.
