The changing of the guard in the U.S. House of Representatives for the 112th Congress has brought new leadership to House subcommittees overseeing healthcare issues.

Rep. Wally Herger (R-CA) was appointed on January 7 to be the chairman of the subcommittee on health of the House of Representatives' Ways and Means Committee. Herger held the position of ranking member on the health subcommittee in the previous congressional session.

Rep. Joe Pitts (R-PA) is the new chairman of the subcommittee on health of the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
