Radiological societies continue to voice their support for the Facilitating Innovative Nuclear Diagnostics Act of 2023 (FIND Act), and a congressional hearing on September 19 brought access to medical innovations by seniors into the light.
Sue Bunning, managing director of PET at the Medical Imaging and Technology Alliance (MITA) spoke with AuntMinnie.com to talk about the legislation, as well as takeaways from the hearing held by the subcommittee on health.
MITA recently penned a letter urging the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to modify rules on how the agency pays for diagnostic radiopharmaceuticals used in nuclear medicine. This includes adopting a separate payment system based on average sales price methodology. The FIND Act, if passed, would direct the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to establish separate payment requirements in this area.
