The American College of Radiology (ACR) has appointed Bruce Haffty, MD, chief medical officer for radiation oncology research.

In the role, Haffty will collaborate with ACR staff, Radiation Therapy Oncology Group Foundation scientific leadership, and industry partners to advance practice‑changing clinical research trials in radiation oncology, the ACR said.
Haffty is a former president and board chair of RSNA and the American Society for Radiation Oncology, and a former president of the American Board of Radiology, the American Radium Society, and the Association of Directors of Radiation Oncology Programs. He joins the ACR while continuing to serve as associate vice chancellor for cancer programs at Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences, and professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson and New Jersey Medical School.
