Sony debuts two medical grade printers

Sony Electronics has introduced a new line of medical grade printers, called the UP-51MD series. The new printers, which incorporates the vendor’s Hi-Eye-Q quality imaging system, provide easy color set-up and print speeds of just 20 seconds, according to the Park Ridge, NJ-based firm.

Sony’s print media products can now be matched to printer specifications to accurately monitor paper-to-ribbon print counts, make constant adjustments to ribbon tension and provide consistent, reliable image reproduction, according to Sony.

To enhance printer durability, Sony has designed a state-of-the-art SiO2-coated thermal print head capable of doubling the head life of its previous A5 printers, according to the firm. Sony also highlighted a new color set-up utility, which allows the user to capture an image and select from nine different thumbnails of the image, each with slightly different color characteristics. This allows for quick and easy color adjustment selections, according to the firm. The suggested list price for the UP-51MD is $6,195. The recommended price tag for the UP-51MDU is $5,350.
