Radiologic technologist Nancy Ellingson has been appointed to a U.S. Food and Drug Administration committee guiding federal mammography laws. Ellingson has nearly 40 years' experience as a technologist and as a mammographer, according to the American Society of Radiologic Technologists.
Ellingson is currently the continuing education reviewer for the ASRT in Albuquerque, NM. She will be the only radiologic technologist on the 15-member panel, which is designed to maintain and update the federal Mammography Quality Standards Act, according to Dr. Charles Finder, executive secretary of the committee.
Some of the committee's tasks include developing procedures to investigate consumer complaints about mammography facilities, as well as monitoring MQSA compliance.
