A centralized database containing demographic information on over 200,000 radiology technologists will be launched July 15, giving allied health professionals access to information for scientific, academic, public policy, and healthcare research.
The database will be administered by the Medical Imaging Radiation Oncology Data Alliance (MIRODA). Applications for permission to use the database must be submitted by June 1 to www.miroda.org. Researchers will be notified no later than August 15 if their application has been accepted.
The information on RTs in the database will include name, mailing address, and year of birth. The goal of the database is to give researchers faster access to information that may eventually drive policy decisions, according to Lynn May, CEO of the American Society of Radiologic Technologists.
